Richard Thomas DeLoach
Tybee Island - Richard Thomas DeLoach, age 79, died July 9, 2007 at Memorial Health University Medical Center. The Bulloch County native was a graduate of Brooklet High School, and moved to Tybee Island in 1949. He was a volunteer fire fighter with the Tybee Island Fire Department for over twenty years and served one term on the Tybee City Council. He began coaching Little League Baseball with Bill Harris Junior Deputies in 1957 and spent many years coaching youth. Mr. DeLoach was a member of Trinity Chapel United Methodist Church where he served on the Church Council. He retired after thirty-five years in the terminal business.
Survivors include his wife, Mae White DeLoach, of Tybee Island; two sons, Gordon D. DeLoach, of Tybee Island and Richard T. DeLoach, Jr. and his wife, Andrea, of Dunwoody, GA; brother, Emory DeLoach of Denmark; two granddaughters, Madeline and Anna DeLoach, both of Dunwoody, GA; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday at Trinity Chapel United Methodist Church on Tybee Island with Rev. Andy Lamon officiating.
Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
The family suggests that remembrances be made to Trinity Chapel United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 1203, Tybee Island, GA 31328 or a favorite charity.
